A word from Serina Pack--Youth President:
Our three approved Paint Horse Shows in 2010 were fabulous. We have met many new youth and had a lot of fun getting
to know each other. Our youth parties on Saturday evenings, for our two-day shows, were a lot of fun
and we thank all the adults who helped to make those parties possible! Tod you grill a great burger
and Sue you brought us great Pizza! Thanks.
I want to personally invite Paint owners/exhibitors to the next Paint Show in New Mexico, which will be
held September 13th as part of the New Mexico State Fair. We wish to thank Dale Chavez for the beautiful high-point
buckles he has made for the NMSF. This will be a double judged show and is sure to be challeging and rewarding.
A personal thanks from all the youth to the New Mexico Paint Horse Club for the great high point and runner-up high point
awards all year. Each show has had wonderful awards and sincere thanks goes out to Bernice, Sue and Dottie for helping to
make that possible.
Thanks is also given to Crystal Woods, our youth reporter. She had a beautiful report display from our July show. Nice
work!
At the NMSF, please check out the Paint display window. Several club members have been working on this. My painting of the
mare and colt will be on display. Drawing tickets will be for sale at the show office. Please try to sell tickets or buy a
ticket. Proceeds benefit year-end awards and horse rescue in New Mexico. The display will also have many photos of our
club activities that I have compiled. I have tried to get photos of most of our members. (Sorry if I have missed a few--I
hope to get those additional photos from the NMSF show). Also, in the display there will be a great representation of what
the New Mexico Paint Horse Club is all about. If you are thinking about becomming a member of NMPHC, we welcome you. We have
a variety of classes for everyone, every level, including All Breed. We welcome 4-Hers and novice riders. We are like one
big family who share a similar passion--horses!
I also have a special community
service project I feel very passionate about. If you like to read and would like to spread the passion of reading, I look
forward to visiting with you about my literacy project. Did you know that New Mexico, according to the State of Literacy
in Amercia, is ranked 48th in the nation with its very low literacy levels. My friend and I have formed the A.P.P.L.E.
Literacy foundation. Check out www.appleliteracy.org to learn more and get involved. We would love to have branches of A.P.P.L.E. everywhere. A.P.P.L.E. stands for A Plan
to Promote Literacy Everywhere.
Sincerely,
Serina Pack
